The brief that I was working to was to create an artist and for that artist create a music video for them and create two ancillary products, which include a magazine advert and a digipak.

The artist that I choose were a girl group called ‘THICKE’, I found them on a website called ‘unsigned.com’ originally the group has three singers but when listening to them it only sounds as if one person is singing, so I decided to manipulate this and create a video as is its only one person singing. It was quite easy for me to find them on unsigned.com because when I was searching I clicked on R&B artists and they came up as one of the most viewed artist do I decided to take a look at it and it was something which I would actually listen to so I decided to use them.  When it came to seeking permission because they are unsigned you don’t need to ask for permission but just to be polite and safe I emailed them asking for permission to use their song.

The music genre of the song I choose was R&B/Soul. This song attracted me instantly as it the genre which I am most interested in. Listening to the girl group reminded me of some of my favourite artists such as Ciara and Beyoncé which was an immediate plus for me. The group had a really nice old school feel to them which is something I feel that is not around a lot today.

Blog Reflections: Week Fifteen

This week all of the ancillary products have been completed! the week was spent completing the digipak and magazine advert. I was in charge of the magazine advert and I used fireworks to edit it on which is what I prefer to edit on. I really enjoyed this task as it was something which I really enjoy doing and I am very happy with the end product. Abir, my partner was in charge of the digipak and he used Photoshop to edit on which is what he prefers.
We kept checking in on each other with the different ancillary product to make sure that they matched and that there were some sort of synergy between the two. Overall I am really pleased with how they came out in the end as to me looks very professional and all three product match very well.
