Beyonce - Broken Hearted Girl
This video my Beyonce features some of the same stuff I want to do for my music video, the mainly thing firstly being how it is all in black and white which adds tot he whole song and again the song being about a relationship and being hurt relates to my song a lot. In this video Beyonces costume is very feminine and her costume is kept very minimal we see a lot of silhouettes in this video and it helps add mystery to the music video. I would like to do this is well because it can also be used to shown the mystery in a relationship and how no one really knows what goes on behind closed doors.
The style if this video is a very slow placed and softly edited video, with loads of shots that are shown in slow motion to emphasize certain parts in the video and I think this is a very effective way of trying to make some parts stand out because it can be done to emphasize anything but in this case it is used to stress emotion in the video whether it be happiness or sadness and this is effective to an audience because it can really make them think or make think of a previous experience which they could relate to and draw them in.
The narrative in this video is that we see Beyonce going to old locations of where her and her partner shared memories and as she is there she has flashbacks of the good memories they shared.
Mariah Carey - Fantasy
In this music instead of everything being all sad we see a more happy and up-beat atmosphere in the video. This video is full of colour and fits the song perfectly, the bright colours help keep the up-beat video alive and the many different scene locations help add to the video making it very eye catching. Mariah Carey herself has such a huge fan base being around for so long but this video was one of her older ones and the costume in this are crop tops and short shorts which are something which are very popular today for teenagers.
There isn't really any narrative in this video we just see her in different areas around a theme park, which helps show her happiness and the fun of the song because theme parks are usually associated with happiness and fun. Having loads of different locations helps keep the video interesting plus her having fun on the rides fits very well of the song because it is a happy song and the excitement in actions is matching the excitement in the lyrics.
The style of this video is very basic with loads of cuts with loads of long, mid and close up shots to help show the environment and show of the singer herself. I would use these types of shots when it comes to my own music video because by switching up the shot types and not keeping everything the same keeps the audience interested and not expecting what to see next rather than just one shot type throughout the whole thing.
Chris Brown - Love More
In this music we see a completely different style of everything compared to the previous two videos. The narrative in this video is that we have a little intro to the song before we actually get to the song, it shows him forgetting about going to club which relates to his audience because they are mainly all teenagers and girls who are in their 20's and go to the club a lot. We then see him get to the club and have a few dance scenes but then that is when the narrative ends, after that we just see club scenes that match the energy of the song.
The costume Chris Brown has in this video is very up to date, having in style clothes and jewelry it attracts his large female audience which make them like him even more because they find him attractive. Throughout the video we only see him in two outfits.
The style of this video is very fast pace editing which cuts a lot to the beat, the large use of colours in this video also adds the song and also it being set in a club helps add to the genre of the music. There are loads of close ups to show the lip syncing scenes and loads of long shots to show the dancing scenes which again to his audience make them even more attracted to him because of his skills in dancing.
Big Sean - Beware
In this music video we see something that is very edited all the way through the video, which to me makes it unique the heavy edited video goes very well with the Rap/Hip-Hop song. The video has a mysterious effect to it as well as the song, we can't really see the artist that are featured in this video we just see a lot of silhouettes and outlines of them and of them filled in with a design.
There isn't really any narrative in the music video itself but there is a narrative within the song so the video doesn't necessarily need and narrative because the song speaks for itself. We just see different shots with each artist mainly close ups and mid shots. Because the message is so clear to the audience it makes it so easy for them to relate to the song, which is similar to the song I want to do because I feel that the song has a strong message and its not hard to understand so you don't exactly need loads of narrative in the video.
The costume in this music video you cannot really tell because everything as I said before is so heavily edited over its hard to make out how they are dressed.
Ashanti - Mesmerize
In this music video we see them try to re-create a scene from Greece when she comes out in the end and changes her appearance for a guy she likes. This video has a clear love story narrative throughout and we see this throughout the music video again similar to the previous video with Mariah Carey we see her in a theme park again or a fair and the excitement and fun of the atmosphere adds to the song.
The style of this video has loads of cuts to showcase all around the park, with loads of cuts with people enjoying themselves. The costumes in this video shows no real relevance to this current age but because they are trying to reference something else people who have seen what they are referencing will get what they are trying to recreate.
